Palunko Scriptwriters' Workshop

For the ninth year in a row at Zagreb Film Festival and for the eleventh time in general, the Palunko Scriptwriters' Project is organizing a workshop for short film scriptwriting for all those who would like to become creative scriptwriters and those who already have some experience in it but would like to learn more. As always, twelve gifted participants selected through a public competition will have an opportunity to develop their ideas into scripts under the guidance of experienced mentors: Dalibor Matanić, Tomislav Zajec and Danilo Šerbedžija. After the workshop, a jury consisting of young filmmakers will select the best script. The film based on the winning script will be produced by Croatian Film Association and in cooperation with Propeler Film. It will premiere in Checkers competition program at the next year's ZFF.

Since Palunko Workshop has entered its second decade and since it is taking place as part of ZFF's Industry Program as of last year, it has introduced some new, important changes: the application process is not based only on the ideas squeezed into a 160-character text message any more and the new award includes a several-month-long project development after the end of ZFF. Besides working with mentors, the program now offers additional activities to the workshop participants: film analyses, a panel discussion on European scriptwriting programs and a pitching forum for Palunko participants. The changes aim at turning the workshop into a place where all those interested in short film scriptwriting could meet. As an introduction to the changes planned for next year, non-Croatian scriptwriters can participate in the workshop for the first time.

Throughout the year, Palunko Project also organizes other activities intended for the promotion of scriptwriting. Details can be found on the regularly updated portal – the only specialized scriptwriters' portal in the region. Palunko and Zagreb Cinema Club are active members of NISI MASA, the biggest European network of young film workers.
